Godrej Industries made a strong announcement last week, aiming for a total market value of more than Rs. 5,00,000 crore for its businesses by the year 2031. This Group, which has companies in different fields such as consumer goods, real estate, finance, agriculture, and chemicals, shared this news during an event at their headquarters in Vikhroli, Mumbai, where they also revealed their new brand purpose and identity. Godrej Industries plans to grow its number of publicly listed companies from three to five. The companies in consumer goods, real estate, and agriculture are already on Indian stock markets. Each of these companies aims to provide over an 18-percent return on equity consistently. The overall goal for the Group is to achieve a yearly sales growth of more than 15 percent and an earnings per share growth of over 20 percent. These plans will help Godrej Industries reach its market cap goals.
The Group’s growth plans were shared as part of a complete update of their brand, aiming to create a more cohesive and forward-thinking corporate image. The updated identity does not change the famous Godrej logo, which remains the same on all products and services that customers see. Instead, a “GI” symbol has been added to represent the Godrej Industries Group as a company, especially for important audiences like investors, media, and potential hires. The GI symbol is designed to be simple and modest, and it will always appear next to the Godrej logo or company name, ensuring it supports rather than replaces the traditional brand mark. “This new brand identity reflects who we are and our future direction. It strengthens the Godrej brand while providing a modern and unified expression of our goals for the future. It allows each of our businesses to connect strongly to a common purpose while staying true to what makes them unique,” stated Tanya Dubash, Executive Director and Chief Brand Officer at Godrej Industries.
The purpose statement, ‘Crafting tomorrow since 1897’, honors the history of the Godrej Group while clearly setting up the new, updated Godrej Industries for what lies ahead. It emphasizes Godrej Industries’ aim to pursue growth while staying true to the values of the founder, Ardeshir Godrej, known as ‘The Godrej Way’. This philosophy is shown in how the Group has defined its purpose for each business. Each business's purpose is described in a simple two-word phrase. The first word is Crafting, taken from the Group's overall purpose, highlighting how they work with intention, care, and responsibility. The second word indicates the specific benefit that each business provides: Goodness for Godrej Consumer Products, Joy for Godrej Properties, Abundance for Godrej Agrovet, Innovation for Godrej Chemicals, Prosperity for Godrej Capital, and Inspiration for Godrej Ventures.
Creating a better future since 1897 shows the idea that values and success should go together. As we grow, this principle will keep leading us in building businesses that are both profitable and responsible, stated Pirojsha Godrej, Chairperson Designate of Godrej Industries Group, who will become Group Chairperson in August 2026. These values, which focus on people, the planet, and performance, are vital for Godrej Industries to achieve its goals moving ahead. Regarding environmental matters, Godrej Industries thinks that sustainable and responsible growth offers lasting benefits. The future will favor companies that grow in a responsible way by reducing carbon emissions, creating circular systems, supporting communities, and investing in impactful innovations. In 2025, Godrej Consumer Products and Godrej Properties were recognized as number one worldwide in their categories on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Sustainability Indices. Building on this achievement, the Group has set goals such as reaching net-zero operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 2035, and creating a planet-friendly supply chain by 2047.
When it comes to people, the group aims to create a work culture where everyone can excel, where standards are high, opportunities are real, and support is strong. It plans to have 40% representation of women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people with disabilities throughout the Group in the next five years, a target that has already been met by Godrej Properties and the Group's corporate center. Conducting business while upholding strong values has always been the core of The Godrej Way. This approach will keep guiding Godrej Industries as it moves forward in its journey.
