On Wednesday, Apple unveiled an updated version of the MacBook Air, its entry-level laptop, now powered by the new 10-core M4 chip that was introduced with the iPad Pro (2024) last year. The MacBook Air (2025), like its earlier model, is offered in both 13-inch and 15-inch configurations with Liquid Retina displays and comes standard with 16GB of RAM. Users can choose configurations offering up to 2TB of SSD storage. This latest iteration comes equipped with support for Apple Intelligence and runs the latest macOS Sequoia right from the start. In India, the starting price for the base model, featuring 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, is set at Rs. 99,900, while the 15-inch model begins at Rs. 1,24,900 for the same RAM and storage capacity. Pre-orders for the new MacBook Air are now open, and it will become available for purchase in India on March 12, offered in colours such as Midnight, Silver, Sky Blue, and Starlight.

The MacBook Air (2025) boasts Super Retina displays at 13 inches (resolving at 2,560×1,664 pixels) and 15 inches (with a resolution of 2,880×1,864 pixels), featuring a pixel density of 224 PPI and peak brightness reaching up to 500 nits. According to Apple, it can support up to two external displays at a 6K resolution when in use. The new model integrates the M4 chip, which includes a CPU with ten cores, comprising four dedicated to performance and four to efficiency. Additionally, it features a 16-core Neural Engine, an 8-core GPU, and supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing. The system can be configured with a maximum of 24GB of RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage. The MacBook Air (2025) is equipped with four speakers delivering Spatial Audio and a three-microphone setup. For connectivity, it provides Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, along with two Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 ports, a MagSafe 3 charging port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The updated MacBook Air (2025) also includes a Touch ID button for unlocking the device and for making secure purchases. Its Force Touch trackpad supports Force clicks and Multi-Touch gestures. A 1080p FaceTime camera with Centre Stage and Desk View capabilities enhances the video calling experience. The 13-inch variant features a 53.8Wh lithium-polymer battery capable of 70W fast charging, although it comes with a standard 30W USB Type-C power adapter. In contrast, the 15-inch variant offers a larger 66.5Wh battery. Apple claims that the new MacBook Air can sustain up to 15 hours of web browsing and provide as much as 18 hours of video playback through the Apple TV app.
