Analysis

Valimai Movie Review, Rating, Story, Cast and Crew

The first half of Valimai is packed with action, interesting drama and other commercial ingredients in the right amounts. The entire first half is thoroughly impressive and the interval bang is the major highlight of the film. Except for some stylish and high voltage action stunts, Valimai offers nothing interesting. The film lacks an interesting plot as the entire film is predictable. The bike stunts are an asset for the movie and the bike racing episodes are the USP of the film. There are five action episodes and they are shot on lavish standards.

The bus chase in the second half is quite impressive and is the highlight of the second half. The stunts remind us of the Hollywood films. The second half happens on a serious note and is quite boring. The climax episode sounds quite silly and the pre-climax episodes are a huge disappointment. The first half of Valimai looks racy but this goes missing in the second half of the film. The mother sentiment episode is forcefully inducted into the script and it fails to make any impact. The film also has no interesting twists. The second half of Valimai ends on a disappointing note.

Performance

Ajith tops the show as usual and his performance is one of the major highlights of the film. His character is well designed but the director failed to pen an interesting script. Ajith's screen presence is very good. Karthikeya as Naren did his part well but his character is not well penned. The runtime of the film is  a huge disappointment. The drama looks pale and fails to make an impact. All the other actors are good in their assignments.

The story of Valimai offers nothing and everything is uninteresting, predictable. The screenplay looks outdated and the director seemed to be completely focused on the action stunts instead of the script. The dialogues are good and a major part of the budget is allocated to the action stunts which are extremely stylish. The music is good and the background score is decent. The production values of Valimai are grand enough. H Vinoth has been successful with the action part but for the rest, his work is a complete letdown.

Final Word

Ajith shines in this pale and predictable actioner and the film's action stunts are the only savior.
