Details about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's features have been shared online in recent weeks, suggesting improvements it could bring compared to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and other models in the new Xiaomi 17 series. It is said to run on Qualcomm's top-of-the-line 3nm octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, similar to the other phones in the Xiaomi 17 lineup. Earlier, information about the camera specs of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra model also emerged. Recently, a source has revealed information about the phone's launch in China, indicating that it might arrive in the country sooner than expected. A user on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, known as Smart Pikachu (translated from Chinese), disclosed the launch information and certain camera features of the expected Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The phone is expected to be released in China later this month. The source also noticed the device listed on a government website in China with the model number M2551B1. Furthermore, the Xiaomi Band 10 Pro has seemingly been approved in the country, suggesting it will be available soon.
Moreover, the source claims that the back camera setup of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will have a new “Leica coating”. This coating is reportedly designed to reduce “chromatic aberration,” which occurs when camera sensors struggle to focus all colors in the scene, resulting in colored edges around subjects in images. Additionally, this Leica coating is believed to help lessen reflections from the camera while providing “high-definition and accuracy.” A recent report suggested that the Chinese smartphone company may introduce a special photography kit for the expected Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Pictures of the kit implied that this phone might launch with only a triple rear camera, unlike its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which has four cameras on the back. The rumored Ultra is anticipated to feature a main camera of 50 megapixels with an OVX10500U sensor, a telephoto lens of 200 megapixels with a S5KHPE sensor, and an ultrawide camera of 50 megapixels with either an OV50M or S5KJN5 sensor. For selfies, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may also come with a 50-megapixel OV50M camera on the front.
