The Amazon Fire TV Stick HD was introduced in India on Tuesday as the latest affordable streaming gadget from the big online retailer. It is said to offer performance that is more than 30 percent quicker than the earlier HD version, and it also adds support for HDR10+, Wi-Fi 6, and Xbox cloud gaming. This new device features a revamped Fire TV experience with a simpler design and better navigation. It allows streaming in up to 1080p at 60 frames per second and supports audio with Dolby encoding. The cost of the Amazon Fire TV Stick HD in India is set at Rs. 4,999. It can be bought right now on Amazon.in, Blinkit, Flipkart, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto. The device should also be available in retail stores soon. The Amazon Fire TV Stick HD can stream full HD (1080p) at a maximum of 60 frames per second. It supports various video formats like HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, AV1, VP9, H.265, and H.264. The device runs on a quad-core processor with a speed of 1.7GHz and has 8GB of built-in storage.
In terms of connectivity, Amazon has given the Fire TV Stick HD dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. This allows users to connect Bluetooth devices such as headphones, speakers, and game controllers. The Fire TV Stick HD also features a new design for the Fire TV interface. It comes with a tile-style layout and a horizontal scroll feature that displays apps, movies, shows, and other content, similar to what was seen with the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Select. Amazon mentions that the updated design aims to help users explore less and watch more. The streaming device comes with an Alexa Voice Remote included. It is said to respond to voice commands for opening apps, controlling video playback, checking the weather, managing reminders, and controlling smart home gadgets compatible with Alexa like lights, fans, air conditioners, and security cameras. Additionally, Amazon has added support for Xbox cloud gaming on the Fire TV Stick HD. This allows users to connect a compatible Bluetooth controller and play Xbox games available in the cloud through the Xbox app, without needing an actual console. However, users will need an Xbox Game Pass subscription to use this feature.
